A Unique Musical Duo Across Centuries

Join renowned vocalist Kadri Tegelmann and guitarist Paul Daniel in an unforgettable duo performance that brings a fresh and distinctive musical experience to the stage. The duo’s roots lie in the concert project “Re-Sound Love”, where the baroque ensemble Floridante teamed up with hip hop musicians Genka and DJ Paul Oja. It was during this project that Kadri and Paul first performed Strozzi’s “Che si può fare” as a duo, sparking the idea of creating an entirely new musical collaboration. The combination of 17th-century baroque music and electric guitar felt both natural and intriguing. This concert will showcase specially arranged works for voice and guitar, spanning from the 17th century to the present day, along with new interpretations of Estonian folk songs.

Kadri’s classical vocal training and Paul’s jazz background blend three distinct genres and musical styles, giving the duo a unique and vibrant sound. With timeless works by Strozzi, Purcell, and Monteverdi, the music is presented in a modern way, with melodies that still resonate with today’s audience. Experience 17th-century music and folk songs reinterpreted through a 21st-century lens, offering listeners familiar pieces in a way they’ve never heard or experienced before.

As a graduate of the Dutch National Opera Academy, Kadri Tegelmann is a prominent figure in Estonia’s classical music scene, known for leading the “Suveklassika” concert series and her involvement in numerous musical projects. She has performed at prestigious events such as the Nargen Festival, including Handel’s “Clori, Tirsi e Fileno” and the oratorio “Joonas” under the direction of Tõnu Kaljuste. Her repertoire spans from Renaissance to contemporary music while she regularly performs in Estonia and the Netherlands. Kadri is also a guest soloist with the avant-garde theater group Silbersee and the ensembles La Sfera Armonioso and Floridante.

As a versatile guitarist, Paul Daniel has contributed to a variety of music projects, including “Tribute to Veljo Tormis” and the musical “The Man Who Did Nothing” created with Lauri Saatpalu. His influences include guitar legends like Dominic Miller, Jeff Beck, and composer Philip Glass, as well as rock music and his teachers, such as Kustas Kikerpuu and Frank Möbus. In 2012, he received a special award for his arrangement for a girls’ choir at the Pärnu Choral Festival. Paul has performed at numerous international festivals and played in ensembles like Elletuse, Ajavares, and Ro:toro. He studied at the Tallinn Music School, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, and furthered his education in Germany.
